    The floor is a-burning

There is always a special relationship between a mother and a daughter. My mum is awesome.

One of the best things I love about my Mum is that she loves to dance as much as I do.

She will never be as amazing or hot as me of course but Mama Knowles loves to have a boogie.

So I am v glad that I can take her along to Burn the Floor at The Civic this weekend.

Dancing with the Stars is always watched with music up loud in our house and the coffee table is moved because we can't let Shane Cortese have all the fun.

Mum and I went to ballroom dancing for a little while and loved it.

Admittedly we would spend it laughing, at ourselves and the other fools there.

Burn the Floor is a show which originated in Harlem, New York.

I really just put that fun fact in because I wanted to share that I am going to New York next week. And I plan on getting some dancing tips from some lovely New York men, oh yeah!

I'm sure Mum and I will once again argue about which ballroom dancing style is the best. I'm all for romantic waltzing while she's a jiver.

I can't wait to move that coffee table once again.

  • Kiss My Arts's Space

This is an arts and entertainment blog facilitated by THE EDGE, the home of the Aotea Centre, The Civic, Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square in Auckland, New Zealand.

The blog was set up in 2010, as a project sending six arts novices to a whole range of cultural events. They tried EVERYTHING and learned a lot. We continue to change things up - getting more bloggers on board, including insider blogs, artist Q&As and background stories.

We'd love to have your feedback - feel free to share the blogs and post comments!
